Using transdisciplinary methodology his works explore the characteristics of the photographic medium and images, and their relation to the surrounding environments in various different contexts. Tanskanen has presented works at The Venice Biennale Research Pavilion, Italy (2017), Estação Space for Artistic Interventions, Portugal (2019), participated in collaborative art and research projects in Greenland (2018) and in Finland (2017) among others. He holds a BA in Photography from Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts, and an MA in Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art (ViCCA) from Aalto University. This double whammy will give rise to profound changes: economies topple, populations migrate, local identities transform. This intensive course combined research, discussions, and fieldwork by bringing together students from Aalto University and University of Iceland and researchers, artists, community organizers, politicians, and activists in Greenland.&nbsp; We sought to foment discussion between various interest groups in the Arctic region about environmental politics, economy and social and ecological transformations. It intertwines documentary and fabricated fragments, also produced in the event, into a sculptural moving image composition. Instead of adapting or reenacting the film, OUT 2 generates a view of possible correspondences surrounding the question “where are we now?”. For&nbsp;OUT 2&nbsp;this means the unravelling of individual authorship in favour of a collective one. In taking this gamble, the only parameters we have upheld are against creating parameters, including a resistance towards establishing a definitive end. And so OUT 2&nbsp;unfolds as a self-generating creature, gradually developing into its own master.&nbsp;OUT 2&nbsp;is presented in Venice as a multi-screen installation and series of related events. When a linear narrative is missing in the film it turns out to be something new and unpredictable, something that enters to the field of contemporary art as a multidisciplinary art experience. The monitors located on the gallery floor interact with each other and the surrounding environment making room for new stories to emerge.
