Matti Tanskanen (b.1982) is an artist and photographer with an artistic research practice. Using transdisciplinary methodology his works explore the characteristics of the photographic medium and images, and their relation to the surrounding environments in various different contexts.
Tanskanen has presented works at The Venice Biennale Research Pavilion, Italy (2017), Estação Space for Artistic Interventions, Portugal (2019), participated in collaborative art and research projects in Greenland (2018) and in Finland (2017) among others. He holds a BA in Photography from Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts, and an MA in Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art (ViCCA) from Aalto University.
Matti Tanskanen is currently based in Helsinki, Finland.
